III Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo | Castel Del Monte: Le Strade dell’Olio e dei Vini | Edinburgh

The Italian Cuisine Week in the World is an initiative started by the Italian government to support Italian culinary traditions with the purpose of highlighting sustainability, food security, education, territory and biodiversity.

On the occasion of the III Italian Cuisine Week, the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh has organised a series of events promoting the Mediterranean Diet.

Castel Del Monte: Le Strade dell’ Olio e dei Vini, introduces two networks of producers from Castel del Monte area whose activities aim at the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the quality and uniqueness of the region vineyards and olive groves. DOP extra virgin olive oils, DOC wines and traditional food from the Castel del Monte area will be showcased.

The event will offer a unique opportunity to learn the gastronomic tradition of Castel del Monte. Antonio Caputo and Maria Teresa Pellegrino will introduce the audience to some of the region DOC wines and the extra-virgin DOP olive oils. There will be the opportunity to taste the delicacies prepared by chef Felice Sgarra (one Michelin-starred chef from Umami Restaurant), a passionate promoter of Italian gastronomy, who marries his innovative cooking approach to the authentic tradition and high-quality products.

The event is organised in collaboration with La Strada dell’Olio, e Le Strade dei Vini Castel del Monte, Umami Restaurant, Consorzio della burrata di Andria and under the patronage of Comune di Andria.
