Another masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini that tells the tragic story of Cio Cio San, a Japanese girl and her love for Pinkerton, a U.S. naval officer. Women have always played important roles in the music of Puccini, who created impressive female personalities as in Madama Butterfly where a fifteen years old girl reaches maturity in the space of three acts of the opera.
Madama Butterfly was composed in 1904 in Torre del Lago, where Puccini wrote many of his world-renowned operas.
