Emilia-Romagna is the region of Giuseppe Verdi and of performers who have changed the history of this musical genre such as Carlo Bergonzi, Luciano Pavarotti, Leo Nucci and Mirella Freni. It enjoys today one of the most prolific musical life in the operatic world thanks to the highest concentration of historical theaters of the nation. Every year, the theaters of Emilia-Romagna produce lyrical performances of the highest standard, thanks not only to the quality of the artists but also to the preservation of a unique mastery and craftmanship in the construction of the operatic productions.
Live streaming from Emilia-Romagna
OperaStreaming offers a seasonal program of video broadcasts, freely available on YouTube, from the Opera Theatres of Emilia-Romagna (Bologna, Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Ferrara Ravenna and Rimini) in collaboration with EDUNOVA-University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The project, that runs from 2019 through 2021, lets you enjoy Emilia-Romagna’s lyric tradition and opera productions from the rest of the world. OperaStreaming was born thanks to TeatroNet, a pioneering streaming program launched by the Culture Department of the Emilia-Romagna Region in 2012 who provided the technology that enabled all theatres to transmit their shows live.
Second Edition of "Opera Streaming"
The second edition of "Opera Streaming", promoted by the Region and the Opera Houses of Emilia-Romagna kicks off with Ernani from the Verdi Festival in Parma on September 25 and will continue until April 2021 with the following titles:
La traviata by Verdi from Teatro Comunale in Modena (October 18),
Otello by Verdi from Teatro Comunale in Bologna (broadcasted from PalaDozza on November 18),
Werther by Massenet from Modena (November 27),
Madama Butterfly by Puccini from Teatro Comunale in Ferrara (December 29),
Orfeo by Monteverdi from Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna (February 28, 2021),
Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini from Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia (March 28, 2021),
Aroldo by Verdi from Teatro Galli in Rimini (April 16, 2021)
La Favorita by Donizetti from Teatro Municipale in Piacenza (April 18, 2021).
