Costume designer Stefania Grilli in conversation with Nevina Satta

Second appointment of #DonnediSardegna (Women of Sardinia), a series of events dedicated to yesterday and today’s strong female figures from this enchanting island, organised as part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda (Nuoro, 27 September 1871 – Rome, 15 August 1936), Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926.

To introduce the online screening of “L’Accabadora” (2015) by Enrico Pau – which will be available to broadcast on the Mymovies platform for 24 hours only – will be the contribution of the costume designer of the film, Stefania Grilli, interviewed by Nevina Satta, Director of Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission.

Stefania will take us behind the scenes of the film, talking us through the work of the costume designer, which – together with other film industry professionals – contributes to the success of Italian cinema around the world. The making of a film is in fact the result of a team effort in which every contribution is a fundamental piece to get to what we see on the screen: not only actors, directors, screenwriters, but also directors of photography, set designers, composers, make-up artists, editors, sound technicians and many others, whose professionalism and skills we want to enhance more and more abroad.

Born in Cagliari, Stefania Grilli studied set design and costume, graphic design and photography at Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna. She works as a costume designer for theatre and cinema. From her first film “Ballo a tre passi” (2003) to the most recent productions “Last words” and “Il Buco” (2021), she has worked in hundreds of sets, including “L’Accabadora” (2015), based in her home-region Sardinia.

Nevina Satta – another woman of Sardinia – is the Director of Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission. She has an extensive experience in the film industry, including production, direction and teaching that took her from her hometown Nuoro to Europe and America.
