Fables from the Dictatorship by Leonardo Sciascia (1921-2021)

This year is the 100th anniversary of Leonardo Sciascia's birth and we are delighted to be launching shortly the English translation of his volume “Favole della dittatura”, published in 1950 and translated for the first time by Ann Goldstein with the title “Fables from the Dictatorship”.

The publication of the volume “Fables from the Dictatorship” is a collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institutes in Edinburgh, Dublin and London.

To celebrate Sciascia's birth centenary, the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin will present the historical and linguistic context of the “Fables from the Dictatorship” with distinguished writers and scholars, including Joe Farrell – who wrote the introduction to the “Tales”, Mark Chu, Enrica Maria Ferrara, Cormac Ó Cuilleanáin and Serena Todesco.

A reading of extracts by Ann Goldstein will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
