Federica Fornabaio and Angelo Olivieri in Concert

Federica Fornabaio e Angelo Olivieri

Our Music series continues with one of Italy’s youngest conductors but also a pianist and a composer, Federica Fornabaio, presenting her latest project in a duo with acclaimed trumpeter Angelo Olivieri.

The concert will include a combination of contemporary classical music, film soundtracks and jazz, taking inspiration from Federica’s own compositions as well as the standards that influenced her artistic discourse. These musical influences will introduce the sounds of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Nino Rota, Erik Satie and Bix Beiderbeche into the evening concert, rearranged and revisited in Fornabaio’s unique style.

Assisting her stage production of this eclectic mix, will be the warm round tone of Angelo Olivieri’s trumpet, who is considered amongst the best European jazz trumpeters according to Top Jazz.

Federica Fornabaio

Introduced to music by great masters like Ludovico Einaudi and Nicola Piovani, Federica Fornabaio started her career by composing film soundtracks. In 2011, she was shortlisted for best soundtrack composer at the Venice Film Festival and was a finalist Nastri d’Argento Awards. In 2014, Federica was nominated for an award at the BFI Festival in London for her soundtrack to ‘48Hours Film Project’ and, in 2016, she participated to ‘World Soundtrack Awards’ in Gent, Belgium, and the ‘Mise-En Music’ Festival in New York.

A Sony Classical artist, in 2018 Fornabaio released “Unpeaceful”, her latest album produced by Pasquale Minieri and recorded in the iconic ‘Abbey Road’ Studios of London with Grammy nominated producer Andy Walter. “Unpeaceful” features Fornabaio’s original compositions and one song selected especially for her by Japanese acclaimed composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Besides her career in classical and jazz music, Fornabaio had successful collaborations with ‘pop’ artists too. She conducted twice the Sanremo Festival’s orchestra (she was the youngest conductor that ever made the Sanremo stage) winning on both occasions the first prize with the songs performed by Marco Carta and Arisa. Federica also features in Roberto Vecchioni’s album ‘Chiamami ancora amore’.
