Italia Moderna – Reload 017

An exhibition of art works from some of Italy’s most prominent contemporary artists, curated by In-Art.

Italia Moderna was initiated by In-Art in 2011 as a programme of institutional promotion and marketing to increase awareness outside Italy of the contribution that the country’s artists are making to the international world of visual communication. Since that time, selected artist’s work has been shown in London, in Edinburgh and elsewhere. Now an expanded version of this body of work will be accessible to the general public and to visitors to the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe as ‘Italia Moderna Reload-017’.

The selection of works for Italia Moderna aims to showcase the works of artists who have already participated in significant exhibitions both inside and outside of Italy, in permanent and temporary exhibitions in the Bilbao Museum, the Venice Biennale, Biz Art Shanghai, the Edinburgh Art Festival, Quadriennale d’Arte in Rome and other major international, public and private collections. The exhibition also features artists whose work is included in the Italian Government’s permanent collection ‘ Futuro – modern art of the 21st century ‘ in the via Farini, Rome.

Artists featured in Italia Moderna Reload-017 include Astormendez Community (mixed media – painting installations), Pino Caputi (Paintings), Pierluca Cetera (Paintings), Magda Milano (Paintings installations), Ezia Mitolo (wax bas relief-paintings installations), M&P – Monticelli & Pagone (Photo-paintings), Giuseppe Palumbo (graphics and mix media installation), Claudia Scandella (Photography), Cosmo Vestita (mixed media and polychrome ceramic installations).

Italia Moderna Reload -017 will also include new avant-garde visions from Liuba, a visual artist and performer from Rimini and the Italo-Austrian artist casaluce-geiger. Liuba will show stills from videos and two videos made in Berlin, dealing with the burning issue of immigration, with a focus of the current international political situation; casaluce-geiger through a ‘ racconto-storyboard ‘ video and two large scale photographic works will present a personal vision of the modification of the body and of the interaction between new technologies and alternative identities. Astormendez Community will extend their project ‘ Sanctuary ‘ with a Plexiglas wall piece + a quadriptych video installation. Ezia Mitolo will show a diptych of wall installations from her from the recent retrospective of her thirty-year artistic career, presented in the premises of the Generali headquarters in Taranto.

In-Art (Guglielmo Greco Piccolo and Damian Killeen OBE) aims to bring the work of contemporary artists closer to the general public.
