Guest of Honour
Giovanni Manna
Scotland, an enchanted place where the landscape, traditional culture, legends and music interweave to create a small uniquely poetic universe, is a source of intense fascination for me: with the help of his fantastical friend, my young reader lives out this poetic world in his imagination, a world that cannot be expressed in words.

Tales of The World
Tales from Scotland

This windswept land at the mercy of tempestuous waves, with its cliffs rising steeply from the sea, its soft moors covered in heather and the ever-changing light of its skies, has given birth to extraordinary tales which tell the story of a parallel world inhabited by the Little Folk – pixies, fairies, elves, brownies, kelpies and other supernatural creatures – handed down over thousands of years in the long winter nights huddled around the warmth of a peat fire.

Scotland has been fortunate in its long tradition of story collectors, adapters and illustrators. That makes it an especial pleasure to welcome this fine Italian-Scottish collaboration to the tradition. Welcome to Scotland as celebrated in Italian eyes and hearts. May the warm friendship and interchange between Scotland and Italy continue to flourish long into the future.
