Pandemonium
By Vinicio Capossela
Vinicio Capossela, in his work Bestiario d’amore, inspired by the medieval bestiaries, had stated that “In time of pestilence, we need to talk about love”. Capossela’s diversified love bestiary comes to the rescue to find a way out of the Pandemonium, the title of his concert, (from Pan, all, and demonio, therefore all demons, in opposition to pan, theos, all God) – an evocation of all the demons, accompanied by a set of musical instruments which evoke the Pandemonium, a giant mythical instrument built in an underground Kingdom. It evokes an infernal and primitive dimension which can’t rise up to the sky. It seems to be sinking into the earth, amid eternal fire.
Pandemonium is a narrative concert with songs freely chosen in a repertoire that this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of release of his first album “All’una e trentacinque circa” (1990).
Pandemonium is also the name of the daily column written by Capossela during the lockdown, a sort of diary of the day.
