Treasure Island

Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson

Directed by Laura Pasetti

A boy of today receives the visit of four buccaneers from 1750’s in search of Captain Flint’s treasure. He will start an amazing journey on board of the “Hispaniola” and will find himself thrust into a surreal world where nothing is as it seems. An interactive theatre piece with SONGS, FIGHTS and LAUGHTERS, but also INTRIGUE, BETRAYAL and TWISTS.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES: Stevenson wrote the novel after drawing a map while playing with his stepson on a rainy afternoon. Drawing the map inspired the creation of the characters. Imagination is fundamental to understand the entire story: the ability to visualize a parallel reality where to manifest our deep desires and fears facing the other self who hides under our socially acceptable behavior. A big adventure at sea is waiting for Jim, however an incredible surprise is around the corner: the ship is not a “real” ship. In order for the story to unfold and for Jim to follow the pirates, the audience’s imagination will play a key role. They will accompany Jim in search for the courage to become an adult.
