Mark Cousins’ documentary takes us on a journey through Sardinia, where DH Lawrence and his wife took a trip in 1921. The film is an open letter to Lawrence, presented as Cousins visits the same places the English novelist discovered over 90 years before. Paintings, films and artists, relating to the land and time that Lawrence was visiting the island, all take a starring role in the film.
The EIFF is delighted to welcome Mark Cousins for a Q&A session after the screening. This film screens as part of a new multi-platform distribution initiative in partnership with the Tide Experiment 3, supported by Creative Europe.
The Italian producer Laura Marcellino made the documentary in collaboration with Don Boyd, Duane Hopkins, Samm Haillay.
Laura Marcellino has worked for 30 years in the international film market and festival world, organising the Venice Biennale Film Festival and heading its Industry Office, for a total of 21 years, and the Switzerland Locarno Film Festival. As well as serving on festival Juries, she is a lecturer and a moderator on various aspects of the film world at panels and seminars.
