Celebrating its 35th year, the Edinburgh International Harp Festival hosts a packed programme of local and international talent, a scintillating line-up of 9 concerts, 39 courses and 19 workshops as well as informal gatherings, late night sessions, a harpmakers’ exhibition, private tuition and lunchtime open platform.
This year the Festival is delighted to welcome Adriano Sangineto from Italy, in concert on 6th April, to present his own original compositions, influenced by his national folk music and modern rhythms. Also Adriano will be hosting a workshop discussing the popular harp in Italian Culture.
Adriano is the son of a harp maker and his love for folk instruments had led him to become an eclectic musician, expressing himself through various musical genres. He revisits Italian and European folk music, plays several wind and string instruments, and is committed to a constant search for new sounds. He has recorded several CDs.
During the Festival there is an opportunity to be taught by Adriano on his five day course: The soul of the Italian popular harp. He is also offering private lessons.
