This fascinating ‘cinematic survey’ of Salto di Quirra, a site used for military training and rocket testing since the 1950s, weaves extraordinary footage of rocket launches from the base’s own archive through the overheard conversations of local farmers and a radio broadcast of a geological investigation of the area. More interested in creating an impression than delivering the facts, the result is a haunting attestation to the incompatibility of the natural world and the modern military-industrial complex.
