Gianluca Littera – Double Breath

The Queen’s Hall and the Italian Cultural Institute are proud to present an exclusive line-up showcasing some of the most exciting talents in contemporary Italian music.

Gianluca Littera is a giant of modern harmonica playing. A frequent collaborator with Ennio Morricone, he has also appeared with Ute Lemper, Kremerata Baltica and a host of world famous orchestras. Gutsy, haunting, rhythmic – Gianluca is taking the instrument to new highs.

He will be joined at The Queen’s Hall by the cream of current Italian jazz musicians – Furio Di Castri (double-bass), Fabio Gorlier (piano) and Mattia Barbieri (drums).

Furio Di Castri has played double-bass alongside Michel Petrucciani, Joe Lovano and Chet Baker and recorded four albums with QH favourite Paolo Fresu.

Furio first worked with drummer Mattia Barbieri when he was director of the European Youth Orchestra. Most recently, Mattia has played in the groups MauMau and the Alboran Trio who are the first Italian band to sign with the prestigious German label ACT.

Fabio Gorlier is one of Italy’s rising keyboard stars and has most recently work with the Jazz Couriers, USA flautist Carol Sudhalter and dancefloor revivalists The Roosters.
