A strong woman of Sardinia, Annetta lives in a small village in rural Sardinia at the end of the 1930s. She is in her mid-30s, always wears black, and is a loner and silent, with a flinty beauty typical of the dry surrounds. She holds a terrible secret from the past and spend long days waiting for a call. When it comes, her slim fingers open an old leather bag and reveal a wooden mallet, an old cushion, a broken mirror… until something unexpected happens to change her whole existence.

Enrico Pau was born in Cagliari in 1956. He graduated in Italian Literature and teaches Italian and history. After working as director and actor in theatres in 1980 he joined Aldo Tanchis and together they wrote radio shows hosted by Pau.  In 2001, he directed L’anatema di Aquilino, video portrait of Aquilino Cannaso, writer from Cagliari as well as his first feature film Pesi leggeri, presented at the Viareggio Film Festival in 2001.
