The Italian Cultural Institute is very pleased to collaborate with Valvona & Crolla on the exhibition “Seasons in Chianti” by Franco Franceschi.
Following the opening at the Ruspoli Berlingheri Farm in Lilliano, in the area where the images were shot, the exhibition successfully toured France and Slovenia.
The research includes 65–70 images, showing Siena countryside photographed in different seasons in the course of eight years while the artist stayed in Castellina in Chianti. There he focused not only on the spectacularity of the whole, but especially on the sublime essence of details, by searching for those forms and colours which best characterize the landscape.
The images are extraordinary, letting emerge the metaphysical nature hidden in Chiantishire. Images inspired by painting, neither melancholic, nor exalted by exaggerated colours. It is a Chianti that has been lived more than visited.
The Valvona & Crolla exhibition entails 50 images selected from the collection and presented here in a 40×60 format.
