Lingua e identità a 150 anni dall’Unità d’Italia aims to investigate 150 years of the relationship between Italian language and Italian identity in the making, from the Risorgimento to the present.

The volume features an outstanding line-up of scholars, led by Professor Nicoletta Maraschio, Chair of the Accademia della Crusca, whose preface introduces articles by Matteo Brera (Edinburgh), Daniele Comberiati (Bruxelles), Margherita Di Salvo (Naples), Federico Faloppa (Reading), Giuseppe Nava (Siena), Franco Pierno (Toronto), Giuseppe Polimeni (Pavia), Rosanna Sornicola (Naples), Arturo Tosi (London).

Event chaired by Prof. Antonella Sorace Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.

Matteo Brera (General Editor) works in the field of Italian Modern and Contemporary literature, focusing mainly on decadentism and ecclesiastical censorship. Other research interests include translation (mainly from Shakespeare and Milton), Italo Calvino, opera, contemporary poetry and popular music.

Carlo Pirozzi’s (Editor) research interests span from Italian contemporary poetry (Giuseppe Ungaretti, Piero Bigongiari) and narrative (Antonio Tabucchi) to history of Italian theatre.
