Mediterraneo: Bang the Drum!

with The Badwills, Bristol Branch and The Winter Drummers.

Edinburgh’s very own celebration of Mediterranean and world music, Mediterraneo, is back at Summerhall! Mediterraneo: Bang the Drum gets right to the heart of rhythm with a carnival of percussion. We have three brilliant bands, The Badwills (Pizzica & Tarantella from Italy), Bristol Branch (Forro – Northern Brazil) and Beltane Fire Society’s 23 piece Winter Drummers – complete with all the drums, tamburelli, tammorre, surdos and pandeiros we can fit in the Dissection Room. All profits from the show will go to support Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) work with refugees in the Mediterranean. Tickets £8 – available online and a limited number on the door.

Hosting and closing the night, Edinburgh’s first and finest exponents of Italian pizzica, tarantella and tammurriata, The Badwills will take you right to the heart of the Mediterranean. With the entrancing power and beat of their rhythms, and the charm of their harmonies and stories, they will open a window on the lights and shadows, glory and madness of the South of Italy. Let the spider bite, let the dancing begin! You can see more about the band at their website at www.thebadwills.co.uk
