Cellectronica: a night of classical cello with a modern twist by Flavia Massimo

Flavia Massimo

We are thrilled to announce that cellist and sound artist Flavia Massimo will perform at the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh on Thursday, 8th May at 6:00 pm as part of her UK and Ireland tour.

Flavia Massimo is a contemporary cellist, sound designer and event curator, specialising in both classical and electronic music. Through years of research she has developed a very personal sound augmenting the cello with extended techniques and live electronics. She has composed soundtracks for exhibitions, dance and theater performances, created interactive art installations. Flavia is also the artistic director of Paesaggi Sonori (high mountain festival). With her latest album, Glitch, she presents an organic world where perfection flutters and distorts with microcosmic grace. The work focuses on the aesthetics of interference, errors and sonic granules in a fusion of acoustics and electronics. Glitch makes its unique cello enhanced with extended techniques, voice, synth, field recording, loops and live electronics.
