The Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh presents the performance ‘L’amica geniale a fumetti’ by Fanny & Alexander on 7 November at 18:30, at the Basement Theatre (Aberdeen City Campus, North East Scotland College) in Aberdeen. The performance is based on the graphic novel by Mara Cerri and Chiara Lagani (Coconino Press), based on My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante (Edizioni e/o), with the direction of Luigi Noah De Angelis. The performance will be in Italian with English surtitles.
The story, drawn from the comic by Mara Cerri and Chiara Lagani inspired by My Brilliant Friend (Elena Ferrante), unfolds the friendship between two women, following it step by step through their lives: the way they grow as individuals, brush against one another, shape and unsettle each other, drift apart and return, carried across decades by shifting emotions, by distances and intimacies that continue to nourish their bond.
In the background, a choral city-world—wounded and resonant—echoes with the contradictions of past and present, and with a future whose edges remain still uncertain, almost ungraspable.
