On the occasion of the Italian National Day, 2nd June, Festa della Repubblica, the Consulate General of Italy for Scotland and Northern Ireland, with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh, is pleased to invite the Italian community to a reception on Monday, 6th June 2022 at 6:30 pm at the Ulster Museum in Belfast.

A concert by the pianist Corrado Neri will mark the event.

CORRADO NERI

Corrado Neri graduated in 2014 in piano with full marks at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatoire in Catania and in 2018 he graduated in the specialization course at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire in Milan.

Among his most important compositions, A divine comedy was selected by the Antoniano of Bologna among the 12 songs of the 58th Zecchino d’Oro and was awarded the “Rai Zecchino Web” award.

His latest project is “Neri canta Modugno”, in which he presents a selection of famous compositions of the well-known Apulian singer-songwriter. With this show he won the 2016 edition of the Risuoni Festival. In 2017, one of his interpretations at the piano and voice of the famous song La sveglietta by Domenico Modugno was broadcast in prime time on Canale 5: this performance obtained enormous acclaim among the sector’s insiders and the popular jury.

He has performed in numerous concert halls, cultural institutes and embassies around the world: in Georgia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Arkansas, Virginia and at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Between 2020 and 2021 he was engaged in an important recording and documentary work sponsored by the Department of Sport Tourism and Entertainment of the Sicily Region and by the municipality of Avola entitled “Music in a Box?”: a concert-documentary in which he alternates his music with that of other important Italian artists, including the great Sicilian drum percussionist Alfio Antico.

In July 2021 he won the Absolute First Prize at the Italian Performer Cup, an artistic event that brings together the best performers from all over Italy. In November he participated in the talent of the same name broadcast on Rai Due, ranking second overall. In the same month his first solo album Music in a Box? was released, containing four unreleased tracks and four covers, taken from the homonymous Concerto-Documentary, in the double version on key and on vinyl.
