Puccini Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in the rich Tuscan cultural scene, it is the most important lyric festival in Italy and the only one in the world devoted to Giacomo Puccini. It takes place every summer, in the months of July and August, in the places which inspired the Maestro and his immortal melodies.
Established in 1930, it has become a prestigious festival, attracting thousands of spectators from over the world who have the opportunity to enjoy the greatest lyric stars directed by important orchestra conductors and to admire the most extraordinary stagings by famous directors for Madame Butterfly, Turandot, La Bohème, Tosca and Manon Lescaut. Puccini’s operas are in an open air theatre which hosts 3,400 seats, situated by the lake of Massaiuccoli, a green beauty spot where you can visit Puccini’s house. Casa Museo contains the remains of the great musician and various relics relating to Puccini’s life and work.
