RSA John Kinross Exhibition

The Italian Cultural Institute is delighted to present an exhibition by the Royal Scottish Academy which will feature work by recent RSA John Kinross scholars, as well as selected works from the prestigious RSA Collections (officially recognised by the Scottish Government as a Collection of National Significance). This coincides with the annual RSA New Contemporaries exhibition – an exciting showcase of recent graduates selected from the Scottish degree shows in 2017.

The RSA John Kinross Scholarships are amongst the Academy’s oldest and most prestigious awards and have sent over 417 artists to Florence since it’s inception in 1981. A number of scholars are now Members of the RSA, and many continue to be heavily influenced by their Florentine experience.

John Kinross was an architect member of the academy and was greatly influenced by his time in Florence so in recognition of this, his family established a fund with the RSA in 1981 to enable artists and architects who have graduated from one of the main schools of art & architecture in Scotland to spend time in Florence.

Exhibiting artists include: Alice Campbell, Miriam Mallalieu, David McCulloch, Megan Rae, Will Judge, Chiara Von Puttkamer

From the collections: David Cass, James Dixon, Giovanni Giacoia (cover image), Jessica Harrison RSA, Jonny Lyons, Ewan McClure, Martin McKenna, Geoff Uglow, with more artists to be confirmed.

This is in collaboration with the Royal Scottish Academy and Carlo Pirozzi from the Italian Department at Edinburgh University.
