An Evening to celebrate Giuseppe Verdi

Music, discussion and a traditional Emilian dinner

In homage to the bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth, VinCaffè Ristorante and the Italian Institute host an evening of music, discussion and a traditional Emilian dinner.

After dinner there will be a short talk by Prof. Ilaria Dioli entitled: “Variations on Taste: Giuseppe Verdi Culinary Compositions”.
The talk offers an overview on the evolution of taste, cooking and culinary habits in 19th Century Europe with a specific focus on Giuseppe Verdi’s passion for food, recipes and the products of his own properties. The presentation will cover the lesser known aspects of the Maestro, through anecdotes and letters that show his deep relationship with food and music as artistic expressions able to connect innovation and tradition.

Ilaria Dioli, Ph.D in Landscape studies and Researcher at the Local Economics Laboratory of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza on the themes of Cultural districts, city Brand and place Identity

We are also delighted to welcome Armenian Soprano Anush Hovvanisyan (http://www.anushhovhannisyan.co.uk) “an outstanding young talent” from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland who will be performing a selection of Verdi arias and songs.
