Edinburgh International Film Festival
The title refers to a complex number used by a future Euro government in 2035, designed to measure each human being’s worth… a number which haunts an immigrant couple – British actor Simon Merells and talented Romanian actress Ana Ularu (who made an impact in the recent Jennifer Lawrence/ Bradley Cooper film Serena) – desperate to find a new home. A striking Italian film – made in English – with director Lorenzo Sportiello also credited with screenplay, music and visual effects direction.
Lorenzo Sportiello was born in Bari in 1978, but he lives and works in Rome, where he graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. He attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, as well as Puglia Experience at the Apulia Film Commission. Index Zero is his feature film debut.
