As a tribute to one of the greatest Scottish and European artists of the 20th century, Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005), a poetry reading from Paolozzi at Large in Edinburgh (Luath Press, 2018) curated by former Edinburgh Makar Christine de Luca and Dr Carlo Pirozzi (University of Edinburgh). The event will be introduced by the curators of the exhibition Andy Warhol and Eduardo Paolozzi | I want to be a machine at Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art Two (till Sunday 2nd June, 2019) and will be accompanied with live jazz music by Martin Kershaw (saxophone) and Paul Harrison (piano).
Paolozzi, considered a father of the British Pop Art movement, was a prolific sculptor and printmaker as well as an inspirational teacher. He was born in Edinburgh into an immigrant Italian family who ran an ice cream and confectionary shop in Albert Street, Leith. Many of his major works are scattered across Edinburgh.
