A brand new immersive light and video show by The Fake Factory, a pioneer in the immersive art field.
The artistic director and mind behind the Farnesina Digital Art Experience light show that lit up the National Monument of Scotland on Calton Hill in December 2022, Stefano Fake, returns to the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh from Thursday, 20th March, on the occasion of the Open Day 2025, to Thursday, 17th April with three new digital art installations.
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN DIGITAL ART
A “phygital” immersive art installation, resulting in the shattering of art experiences that integrate the physical and digital worlds. Through the use of immersion, interaction and the manipulation of physical and virtual space, Stefano Fake creates environments that allow the public to experience alternative realities: immersive installations satisfy the viewer’s inherent desire to escape only physical reality and become part of the artistic experience itself.
PRESENCE. PAINTING WITH LIGHT AND COLOURS.
The interactive installation “PRESENCE“, created by Stefano Fake and Alberto Gennaro based on a project in TouchDesigner designed by Elekktonaut, showcases one of the recurring themes in The Fake Factory’s artistic poetics: the physical presence of the audience within the artwork. The visitor becomes an active presence capable of generating an infinite series of gestural choreographies and chromatic compositions with their own body.
The final aesthetic recalls the pioneering video experiments of Norman McLaren (“Pas de deux” 1968) and the video art works created by Fake in the early 2000s (“The Essence of Dance” 2004-2005). The dancer/performer’s body is replaced by the presence of the visitor, who takes on the role of a true and central actor in contemporary immersive digital art installations.
