Mediterraneo is 10 years old, and it’s time to celebrate with a huge party edition of Edinburgh’s very own world music concert series! So come join us for one wild night of live Italian Pizzica, Brazilian Forro, and Spanish Flamenco firing up Summerhall’s dissection room. As well as the evening concert there will be a special Mini Mediterraneo concert for kids, and the Mediterraneo Dance Workshop – Pizzica and Tammurriata in the afternoon to help get you in the mood, with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh.
Mediterraneo 10th anniversary special edition! With The Badwills, Bristol Branch, and TuFlamenco
Three bands and 18 musicians will take the stage, complete with furious tambourines, fiddles, guitars, cavaquinho, accordions and dance moves from three corners of the world. Hosts, The Badwills will be bringing their fiery southern Italian pizzica, tarantella and tammuriata with a special extended line up. They will be joined by Scotland’s own maestros of Northern Brazilian Forro, Bristol Branch, as well as the mighty TuFlamenco with their full body sounds of Southern Spanish Flamenco to get your feet moving and hands clapping.

Mini Mediterraneo – Live Flamenco and Tarantella for Kids
To help celebrate turning the ripe old age of 10, Mediterraneo are putting on a special Mini Mediterraneo, for the little fans of dancing and live music from around the world.
Come and jump, dance, and warm up your winter weekend in Summerhall’s Main Hall with some live pizzica, tarantella and tammuriata from southern Italy from The Badwills, and some Southern Spanish Flamenco from TuFlamenco. The concert will be specially designed for children accompanied by their parents or guardians. Bring your dancing feet, and best dance moves!

Mediterraneo Dance Workshop – Pizzica and Tammurriata
To help celebrate turning 10 years old, Mediterraneo are teaming up with their friends at Italian Folk Connections and putting on a special dance workshop to help you fine tune your moves for the evening’s concert. Come and join us for a demonstration and workshop of the basics of Southern Italian Pizzica and Tammurriata dance moves.
